Agentic engineering for venture capital

We build the AI systems funds run on

80x builds AI systems for venture-capital funds — agents that qualify every deal inside Attio and Affinity, migrations that don't lose history, and automations that keep your pipeline current on its own. A fund is made by a handful of deals; we make sure you never miss the one that returns it.

Method

How we work

Controls are what let an agent run inside your CRM unattended. Four of them are in every build.

Spec first

Work starts from a written spec: what the system does, what it must never do, and how you will know it works. You read it and object before anything is built.

Dry-run by default

Any tool that changes CRM data plans its changes first and shows you the plan. Nothing writes until you have seen what would happen.

Proof-gated autonomy

An agent only acts on its own after it has proven it is safe. The qualification agent drops any finding it cannot cite verbatim, so an uncited claim can never reach the CRM.

Decision logs

Every consequential choice is written down and numbered, including reversals, so you can always see why the system works the way it does.

Every engagement is led by 80x's founder, Daniel Hull. About the studio.

FAQ

Questions fund partners ask

Something not covered here? Book a call.

01What does it cost?

Pricing follows the engagement shape: sprints and projects are quoted against the written spec, and retainers are a monthly fee. Book a call to scope yours.

02Does 80x replace our team?

No. 80x builds systems your team owns: the spec, the code, the decision log, and the documentation stay with you. The goal is a fund that can run and extend its own automations, not a dependency on the studio.

03What does 80x build?

80x builds AI systems that run inside a venture fund's CRM: qualification and enrichment agents, migration and cleanup tooling, and the scheduled automations behind pipeline dashboards. The studio also publishes its methods as open documentation and ships one product of its own, Backchannel.

04What actually changes for my partners?

They stop doing CRM data entry. Inbound is scored against your thesis and filed before they open it, the values they read carry a citation to source, and the dashboards answer their weekly questions without anyone rebuilding a report. Partner time moves from maintaining the pipeline to acting on it.

05Do you work on fundraising too, or only deal flow?

Both. The same system runs your raise. 80x models LP fundraising as a first-class pipeline: every LP tracked as its own record, none left to go cold, and the weekly question of where the raise stands answered by a saved view instead of a scramble. The case study is an Australian VC raising its first fund.

06Can you find deals we are not already seeing?

No, and we will not pretend to. 80x works on the deals that reach your pipeline, making sure none is missed, mis-scored, or answered too late. Sourcing new deal flow is your network's job. Not fumbling what it brings you is ours.

07Which CRMs does 80x work with?

Attio and Affinity. The case studies on this site run on Attio, and the largest cleanup engagement repaired data after a botched Affinity-to-Attio migration.

08How do engagements run?

Three shapes: a short sprint to build or fix one system, a longer project for migrations and multi-part builds, and a monthly retainer that keeps automations running and monitored. Every engagement starts with a written spec you approve before anything is built.

09How is our data protected?

Backup first, dry run by default. Destructive operations take a full backup, plan their changes as a reviewable dry run, and execute with a rollback trail. In the largest cleanup to date, 1,486 notes were deleted in a single pass with zero errors, and 60 ambiguous groups were escalated to a human review queue instead of deleted.

10Is Backchannel part of an engagement?

No. Backchannel is a separate self-serve product that syncs the WhatsApp and LinkedIn conversations you choose to Attio or Affinity. It costs $29/mo, or $9/mo billed yearly, and you can buy it at 80x.ai/app without talking to anyone.

Want a pipeline where the deal that returns your fund never slips through, and a raise where no warm LP goes cold?
