Build the AI systems funds run on

80x is hiring two founding roles. We build AI systems for venture-capital funds — agents that qualify deals inside Attio and Affinity, migrations that don't lose history, and the open documentation and tools that funds find us through. Both roles are remote and report to the founder.

Why 80x

A small studio with an open body of work

We ship real automation into funds' live CRMs, then publish the method as open documentation, open-source tools, and case studies. You'd be one of the first hires: real scope from day one, a direct line to the founder, and your name on the work.

Remote and async

We're distributed and write things down. Clear writing is a first-class skill here, not a nice-to-have.

Client data is sacred

Everything runs against live pipelines worth real money. Dry runs, rollback trails, and kill switches are the standard, not the exception.

We publish

Most engagements become a public case study, and the reusable parts become open-source tools. Your name goes on the work.

AI in the loop, humans on the hook

We use Claude and agents heavily, but a person signs off on anything that touches a client's data.

Open roles

Two founding roles

Forward-Deployed Agentic Engineer

Remote · Worldwide

Full-time · Founding role

Sit with a venture fund and ship AI agents inside their live CRM. You own the engagement end to end: the spec, the code, the safety rails, and the write-up.

Apply for this role

What you’ll do

  • Build and ship agents that qualify, enrich, and file deals inside Attio and Affinity.
  • Write the spec, decision log, and kill switches before an automation runs unattended against thousands of live records.
  • Work across the stack: TypeScript, the Claude API, MCP, and the Attio, Affinity, and Stripe APIs.
  • Turn each engagement into a case study and, where it generalizes, an open-source tool.

You might be a fit if you

  • You've shipped production software with LLMs in the loop — not demos.
  • You're comfortable owning a client relationship, not just a codebase.
  • You treat other people's live data as sacred, and reach for dry runs and rollback trails by instinct.
  • Bonus: you've worked in or around venture capital, or lived inside a CRM.

Developer Advocate (Docs & Open Source)

Remote · Worldwide

Full-time · Founding role

Own 80x's open surface area — the documentation, the Field Notes, the tools, the videos. This is the content engine that brings funds to us, and you'd run it.

Apply for this role

What you’ll do

  • Turn real engagements into clear, teachable documentation a non-engineer partner at a fund can actually follow.
  • Maintain the Fund Stack directory and ship small open-source tools that make the docs runnable.
  • Write the Field Notes and script the videos that put 80x's methods in front of funds.
  • Instrument what works: you'll live in the analytics and the AI-search audits and tell us what to build next.

You might be a fit if you

  • You write clearly enough to teach a fund partner something technical without dumbing it down.
  • You can read and ship code — you don't need an engineer to publish a working example.
  • You have a portfolio of technical writing, developer relations, or open-source work.
  • Bonus: you know Attio, Affinity, Claude, or the VC workflow firsthand.

How to apply

Send a note, not a cover letter

Email Daniel with which role fits you and one thing you've shipped that you're proud of — a repo, a piece of writing, an automation, anything real. The founder reads every one and replies personally.
