In one line. 80x is migrating an early-stage venture firm from Affinity to Attio, with several ecosystem lists already across, and modelling its fundraising as a commitments object spanning multiple funds and SPVs inside a ~97K-record workspace.
Client & context
The client is an early-stage venture firm. The migration was underway at the time of this session: the partnership ecosystem, a national-security ecosystem list (319 people) and the investor ecosystem had all been migrated, with the goal of moving the whole team onto Attio within a week.
The problem
The involved part of the migration was the fundraising history, not the contact lists. The firm tracks commitments across several vehicles, three funds plus its first fund and its SPVs, which lived in Affinity opportunity boards. That needed to land in Attio in a structure preserving every stage and dollar amount, without duplicating LP records already present in the investor ecosystem.
What we built
- A commitments object built from the Affinity opportunity boards (three funds), replicating all stages and dollar amounts, with a consistent fund-prefixed naming convention.
- A historical import of the firm's first fund and its SPVs' past fundraising.
- A consolidated master LP list, all firms across the funds plus their contacts, deduplicated against the investor ecosystem by matching on people and emails.
- The LP-referrals list (319 firms) imported as a company list.
How we did it
The commitments model mirrors how the fund thinks: one firm can hold several commitments at different stages, one institutional LP, for instance, shows a $30M commitment closed to one fund and a further $30M in due diligence for another. Because the source organization data included duplicates, LP consolidation matched on people and emails to keep records clean. Portfolio management stays in Monday.com.
Outcome
- A national-security ecosystem list of 319 people and 319 LP-referral firms imported.
- A commitments object and a consolidated master LP list built across multiple funds and SPVs.
- A ~97K-record workspace, targeting full team transition to Attio within a week.
Takeaway: Affinity ecosystem lists migrated and fundraising rebuilt as a commitments object across multiple funds and SPVs, inside a ~97K-record Attio workspace.
